Have you finished cooking one of our WR chickens and still have all the bones, neck, juices, and bits of meat left? If so, turn it into delicious chicken bone broth! Bone broth not only tastes great, but it also has many health benefits. Bone broth is packed full of various amino acids, electrolytes, minerals, collagen, and is a great source of protein. This one-of-a-kind, homemade recipe comes to you from Bloom and Brine Iowa, a local producer of cottage goods and shelf stable foods. Find more from her here!

In a large stock pot, place any remaining cooked chicken bones, neck, meat, and juices and combine with ingredients listed below. Simmer on low for 6-12 hours, but 8 hours seems to be the sweet spot. Makes roughly 40 oz. Refrigerate or freeze and enjoy!

*12 cups of cold water

*3-4 carrots chopped in large chunks

*3-4 stalks of celery chopped in large chunks

*One white onion cut into quarters

*A dash of turmeric

*A dash of paprika

*A dash of ground ginger

*A spoon full of minced garlic

*One tablespoon of parsley

*One teaspoon of onion powder

*2 bay leaves

*Seasoned salt to taste (or skip salt if you want it unsalted)
